This is Blacksmithing to the core!!!! I cant even begin to explain to you how much skill goes into making such a piece... What makes this blade so cool is that I handforged it from one single piece of 5160 high carbon steel! Theres no welds or glue...It is all one piece that wraps around and is peened at the bottom guard finger well. Due to the nature of this thing it was nearly all hand hammer work using the post leg vise, swage block, and anvils. The blade features hollow ground primary bevels, top tip false edge, hand forged Skull and Bones touchmark with grail mark engraved over it, razor sharp high polished edge, and Triple Stonewashed Finish. The handle is very comfortable. It is forged 1/2"wide of contact then curves in (like a "C" shape).... theres no hot spots or edges... It is incredibly light and has superb balance. Besides looks and construction this blade also carries my in house heat treat.. Great attention to detail was had in the heat treatment. The entire piece is martensitic/fully hardened then tempered and differentially tempered on top of that. Just an incredible piece of Art, personal accompishent (for myself as a smith), and a tool... Lets move on to the Sheath.... I handcrafted the sheath from heavy veg tan leather. Fully tooled and textured, black stitching, hammered copper rivets, oversnap retention strap, copper snaps, and a antique finish. The sheath is a Dangle Style... It pivots from the beltloop to the main sheath with the addition of a handmade steel ring. A Dangle style sheath is nice because even with a bigger blade it doesnt get in the way when you move or sit down. I think thats about it..... but this is sure enough a "GRAIL" LEVEL HEIRLOOM. and my very first "BLACKSMITH" STYLE BLADE.
