To me these are just a great introduction piece to what Pirate Forge has to offer. A unique ring knife design with 80crv2 high carbon steel and our top notch heat treat! Not to mention they come with a rustic stonewashed finish, free hand ground flat bevels, polished razor sharp edge, deep engraved skull and bones touchmark/branding, aggressive jimping, real upcycled Whiskey Barrel oak wood (from barrels I personally source and breakdown in the shop!), and solid copper pins... These come with our Leatherwork that is also on another level! The leather We make is not just an afterthought or just "included with the blade".... Our leatherwork is a standout alone for its fit, craftsmanship, look, functionality, and quality. We constantly have requests for our sheaths but we do not make Pirate Forge leather for any other makers blades except "Pirate Forge." So yeah this is the complete package. I give you the "Whiskey Pirate" edtion Raven EDC! This blade is designed to either have your index finger or pinky in the hole. Makes for a great unique carry! It also features our bulletproof in house heat treat. If you havnt figured it out yet... all heat treats are not the same. Just because another brand/maker uses a certain steel does not mean it will have the same performance as another makers. Here at Pirate Forge our heat treat has been over 7 years in the making. We dont just read off a recipe book or outsource heat treat. We have used evidenced based practice to create and evolve on the finest heat treat we are capable of. That being said this blade is made from 80CRV2 High Carbon Steel. It features free handed Flat ground primary bevels, a beefy 0.156"thick spine, aggressive jimping, Skull and Bones touchmark engraving, and weathered/worn dark finish. The handle is made from upcycled Whiskey barrel oak wood. Its pretty awesome because I can still smell the Whiskey on the wood as im working with the wood. I do a recesed "Relic" style fit up on the handle along with solid copper pins. After I shape and handsand the handles they go through a process to give the wood nice texture and that timeless old aged look. I then seal the wood putting a protective coat of Pirate Forge Blade Wax finish over the entire piece. With this preorder you have the choice of the 3 different colored handles shown in listing. (Light, Vintage, Dark) As far as care for this blade you can just use some mineral oil and or cutting board care oil/wax to help keep it protected for generations to come.(make sure its food grade safe if you intend to be using blade for culinary purposes). I recommend using the Pirate Forge blade wax we make right here at the forge! This is a true Pirate Style blade that begs to be used. The wear only adds to the look and mystique. This blade comes with a made in house custom leather pocket sheath shown in listing. Heavy veg tanned leather, black stitching, rustic antique finish, and a discreet carry customs clip. Sheath is ambidextrous. The screws can be removed and placed back in whatever position you desire.
