The First ever Forged Pirate Coin from Pirate Forge! I am soo excited about these. This has been on my list for countless years... to have a totally forged coin! Now let's talk about them. These are handmade from C110 copper. A High Grade level of copper great for this kind of art. After Cutting up Thick copper slabs I then spend a great deal of time Annealing, Forging, Shaping, and then final finish work. Before each round of forging the coins (on the same Shop press that ive used to forge all the legendary pieces Pirate Forge is known for) I must anneal/soften the steel. Using my forge, kiln, and torch I get each coin glowing hot then quench in water to prep for the Forging. This takes several cycles ( 6-7 to be exact) before the coin is up to the standards of detail we accept here at the shop. Each coin is subjected to a cumulative total of 1.2 million pounds worth of pressure!!!!!! lets say 6 cycles with 4 presses each cycle. That's 24 squeezes of a 25 ton hydraulic press! Which comes out to 600 tons or 1.2mil pounds... ooohhh yeah! Just some cool stats.... After the Forging the coins are cleaned up, blackened, then cleaned... This results in our Antique Finish Coin... For the Polished version, we take the coin and spend some time doing detail work at the grinder and buffer. The rim is totally polished as well as the the faces of the coin. The Polished Finish coins really shine! We are offering up both of these models for purchase. Stock Levels are limited. These Coins are amazing.. even more so in person.
