So Falchions are pretty special to me. Not only are they just big machete swords (machetes are my favorite type of blade) but it's also the sword that I Forged when I won forged in fire. The Falchion has become my symbol of my hard work and dedication to this craft. The breaking point of when I left my career I went to college for and went full-time into bladesmithing. So yeah falchions are special. I've been wanting to make some type of compact sized Falchion for some time now. Well I finally did it. The Forest Falchion. A machete sized compact falchion with the same profile of my falchion swords. A slight dropping point and distal swell. I hand forged this blade from a piece of 80crv2 High carbon steel. It then went through the same lengthy heat treat process as my large swords. This Blade will take and hold an extremely sharp edge. It is also extremely tough. It was differentially tempered after the full tempering to add even more strength! The Forest Falchion features flat ground with primary bevels with a slight convexing near the edge, deeply engraved skull and bones "Grail Mark", Deep fullers with 6 hollow copper hammer forged inlays, hand forged pommel ring with forged copper inlay, a gorgeous Swamp Washed patina, and a 7,000 grit mirror polished razor edge. The handle features 16 piece in house made combo scales. Vintage Westinghouse "LE" Micarta bolsters, black G10 spacers, Forest green G10 spacers, Coyote tan G10 spacers, in house stabilized swamp wood, and Westinghouse LE micarta liners! The "Relic" style recessed handle is permanently fixed in place with marine grade epoxy and 5 hammer flared copper pins that add a mechanical hold as well as the chemical hold from the epoxy. The Recessing of the handle is very slight Making this blade super comfortable to use and swing day in day out. This is one epic piece and it doesn't stop there..... I Put everything I had into an epic sheath that comes with it! The big heavy duty custom made Right handed belt loop sheath features Heavy veg tanned leather, Primo Gator Tail skin (the gator was killed right here on the Escambia river and cleaned and tanned by the crew), ornate hand tooling, ornate free handed pyrography, a combination of machine stitching and hand stitching with black stitch, custom made two toned stitching hand stitched in a drop angled pattern, 9 hammer forged copper rivets with gothic cross engravings on backside, Hand painted stain job, Right handed leather belt loop, leather retention snap strap, engraved gothic cross on snap, (also handmade by me from a coyote I took down that was getting way to close around my house.) coyote tooth pendant with copper wrap/stablized thread wrap attached to snap strap, large Pirate Forge Native Engraving on back of sheath, Then a rustic antique finish over the entire sheath... This sheath is incredible.
